SIX began as a project to encourage experimentation and create space for artists to develop work. It has manifested itself in a number of guises through the years of its existence.
SIX was about the people and for the people and simply wanted to provide opportunities where there were non. SIX took the form of a white cube gallery space at first where a wonderful community grew through sharing practice and ideas. It then became a nomadic entity exploring a number of found and borrowed spaces and ended up supporting residencies for people to have space to develop work away from their usual world.
SIX had a period of hibernation after working very hard helping a wide range of people get an inch or two closer to where they want there creative work to be.
SIX is currently working on an international exchange project that will launch an exciting season of collaborative work with a number of women from around the world.
